evaluation question 1

1.The title of the magazine- the title of the magazine is the pulse i selected this because it is the first thing that came to mind and its catchy.
2.mise-en-scene of image- the person is looking dow towards his guitar and he is posing as if he was playing a gig
3.costumes and props- i took this photo at a friends gig he is dressed in tight black clothes and he has got a guitar
4.people- i used a lot of people i know to feature in my magazine this photo was taken at newcastle collage
5.title and font style- i chose this font style because i thought it was eye catching  and it also fit well with the colours i used for the other text in the magazine
6.written content- i wrote a interterview with the band members and i also done a question and answer with the band too.
7.music genre and how my magazine represents it-my  magazine represents the rock genre because the person in the image looks like the stereo type person to listen to rock and the colours are very dark and the font is sharp.
8.layout- i made sure not to cover any imortant parts of images and i put  the font and images in appropriate places
9.contents page-i have desinged the contents page just with information on whats inside of the magazone no subscriptions or advertisements because this is what i believe that people who listen to rock music just want to get straight t the point and find out where all of the important articles are.

evaluation question 2

my main image is very similar to this main image from rock sound magazine, i choose this pose for my main image because it looks as if the band member is looking towards the sky as if he is looking directly at God and had the light shine down towards his face i thought this would show that the band has a God-like appearance.this photo represents people who listen to rock music because the person in it fits the stereotype for people who listen to rock music which is long hair with dark tight clothes.

evaluation question 3

i would choose EMAP as the institution which will distribute my product because they have experience with
rock magazines they publish magazines such as Q! kerrang and also mojo, they have been in business since the 40's so i trust that with their experience over the year and with my genre of music emap is the best choice.

evaluation question 4

my target audience for my magazine is people who listen to rock music the people who normally listen to rock music are teenagers, goths and emos they are the people who can relate to the whole rock genre and normally wear black clothes and are 'depressed' a lot of people listen to rock music the goths and emos are just the stereotype rock music lover any one can like rock music.

evaluation question 5

I attracted my audience by making the colours in my magazine quite dark and my main image was in black and white with the lead singer of the band with his guitar, you can tell just by looking at my magazine that it is a rock magazine and i have also put sell lines with popular rock bands on to attract my audience, i think my magazine is similar to kerrang magazine because of their distinctive rock style

evaluation question 6

i have learned a lot about photo shop since i started doing my coursework, i have learned that you can edit a image that you have taken yourself and turn it into something that looks professionally done.thisis what i done in my course work i took my images with a digital camera and editedthem on photo shop usein the lasso tool and the magic wand tool at the start of the coursework i was a complete novice on photo shop i am now confident that i can use it well.

evaluation question 7

From my preliminary task to completing my main product i feel like i have learned a lot. i have learned that a magazine has to choose a theme for there target audience and stick to it in my primarily task i just put random fonts and colours that i thought looked good now i know that everything in the magazine from the font to the main image show relivate to what kind of magazine it is, my magazine is a rock magazine so all of the colours where dark and the font was sharp.i also learned about the different types of poses in my preliminary task i just took a general photo and the collage and a photo of me standing outside a classroom and in my main product my main image was the lead singer of the band is looking up and swishing his hair which i think is a good effect to the image. i have also learned about the layout of the magazine i now know that the main image has to be one of the main selling points of the magazine and should draw people in and also that my sell lines shouldnt block any part of my main imag.

double page spread article draft

Interview with ransom note

Today ransom note has reviled to THE PULSE the official announcement of their new album after front man Rick Crash’s five-month stay in rehab after battling with his addiction to Chrystal meth. ‘The first song we will be releasing is a song I wrote in rehab called a halo in my clutches, it describes the nights in my room in rehab and how I found God and how he helped me get over my addiction’.
The new album has 13 singles and features bring me the horizon and Enter Shikari. The band planned to release their album in July but then agreed that it was too close to Reading and Leeds festival and cant be focusing on two things at once ‘ Reading and Leeds is the first live gig we’ve played since I got out of rehab I want it to best the best performance we’ve ever done and I plan to put all effort into it’. Ransom note where one of the first bands to be announced to play at reading and Leeds witch had a great response by fans with a 10% increase on sales to the last day of the event (when ransom note is playing). Fans are hyped about the return of these new age rock Gods with over 100,000 people preordering the new album. Ransom note is hoping their album will go platinum in the first few months of its release ‘I have no worries about the sales of our album its killer stuff, the thing that worries me the most is playing on stage in front of thousands of people, I still get stage fright’. The rest of the band members are looking forward to returning to showbiz ‘the rest of us just worked on creating music to go along with ricks new songs, we’ve all worked really hard on this comeback hopefully the fans appreciate our new album like we do’. The band are hoping to take America by storm after their tour of the UK and Ireland there non stop touring for the next two years and there even going to The Big day out and pukkelpop in mid 2014. So it looks like the boys will be busy for a while.

Q&A

1Q.What was it like writing most of your songs in rehab?

1A. I know this sounds weird but the unbearable long nights kind of inspired me in writing most of my songs, one of the nurses suggested that while I was going through the withdrawal I write down my thoughts so after a few weeks of doing this I was able to compose lyrics out of my thoughts so this album and these songs really mean a lot to me.

2Q. is the new album as heavy as the last few albums?

2A. If by heavy you mean angry loud in your face death metal music than yes its x10’s more brutal than the first two albums.

3Q. What was the most bizarre thing to happen to you on stage?

3A. This one time in a show in America this guy threw a live fighting cockerel on stage and it started killing the big ass amplifier on stage we continued playing while the cockerel was in a mini mosh-pit.

4Q.What is your advice for future
 musicians ?
4A. I advise any up and comeing new artist to find there own style and keep to it try and get inspiration from the bands you like but don’t copy there style.

A bullet for my valentine song that inspired the look of my model on my font cover of my music magazine

having looked at some of the work from people last year i have learnt that it will not be easy to get a high grade because some of the magazines i thought looked ok got quite low marks for looking unprofessional. i have gained some ideas from other peoples work such as too keep colour consistency with the fonts and also to how to use blank space effectively such as puting an advertisement or a prize there to cover up the space i also learned that the use of dark colours in a dark background makes it difficult to read the text.
I have chosen EMAP to be the producers of my music magazine, i thought this was the best choice because my magazine is a rock magazine and EMAP have experience publishing rock magazines because they currently publish Kerrang Q! and Mojo and have been in the business since the 40's.

The recce

Are there any potential hazards that could pose a health and safety risk where your photo shoot will take place (trailing cables/traffic/other objects )?
There are cables and wires from guitars and amps where I will be takeing the photos and musical equipment on the floor.
What will you do to ensure these risks are minimised?
I will make sure I have a clear pathway through all of the equipment and wires scattered about.
Will the time of day/weather affect the outcome of the photos? Have you allowed for this?
The time of day or weather does not matter I will be taking my photos inside.
Have you considered the background to your photos, particularly if taken outside? How will you ensure you will get the background you want?
Have you considered lighting? What about the ‘problems’ of natural lighting, either outside, or streaming through a window? Will you need to use a flash? Have you considered reflective objects that might spoil the effect?
All of the windows will be covered so no natural lighting gets through all of my photos will be taken in a well lit room.
Do you need permission to take photos in the place/venue you have in mind?
I do not need to permission to take my photos I am takeing them at a friend’s music gig and also in the bunker music rooms.
Do you need to book time in a room (eg the photography studio at Shiney)?
No I did not however I had to wait until my friend’s bands gig.
Are other people/crowds likely to be an issue for you? What have you done to ensure that it will not spoil the effect?
There are a few members of the crowd in my pictures theyhave been photo shopped out.
Are you reliant on lifts/props/friends’ equipment/models? How have you planned that these things will come together at the appointed time? Plan B?
I have waited for my friends gig and also one of my friends has a music room in there house with a lot of musical instruments and I also went to the bunker music rooms.
Finally, have you thought of every eventuality…?
I think I have thought of every eventuality all of the things I needed to do to prepare for my coursework have been done.
